Hi! My name is Kara M. Mitchell. I’m a small-town girl from Oklahoma. But now, I live in the big city of Oklahoma City with two boys and a husband. I write and illustrate picture books for kids. I’m also a landscape designer. I have my fine art and landscape architecture degrees from Oklahoma State University. (Go POKES!)

Making people laugh is my favorite thing ever. So, playful colors, simple lines, and a good joke influence me most when I tell stories. My first picture book, which I wrote and illustrated, is coming out in October 2025 with Magination Press! I’m proudly represented by Lori Steel at Steelworks Literary.
